Vhdl-based Simulation of Electronic Circuits and Systems

چکیده
This paper gives a survey of principal simulation methods for digital circuits and systems when the hardware description language VHDL is used. The construction of a VHDL program and the usual modelling procedures of digital components and signals will be pointed out. Afterwards the description of structure and behavior of digital systems in VHDL will be explained. After having described several concepts to accelerate a simulation run the limitations of such a simulation will be discussed with the help of some examples. Finally an outlook of future activities in this field will be given.
